MYSTERIES OF MYRA
LOOKS LIKE WINNER
The first chapter of the new Wharton serial,
"The Mysteries of Myra,"was presented before
capacity audiences at both the Lyceum and the
Star theaters last night, and judged by the
favorable comment heard on all sides, the
picture promises to become as popular as
"The Exploits Of Elaine" series.
The three reels last night dealt with the
operations of a band of "devil-worshippers,"
who through the use of occult power are
seeking the destruction of Myra Maynard,
an eighteen-year old girl whose two sisters
have already died under strange circumstances.
While in a trance Myra is to kill herself with a
dagger. About the time she raises the dagger
to strike, Dr. Alden Payson, a student of
psychic mysteries arrives and saves her.
Miss Jean Sothern is charming as Myra and
Howard Estabrook won honors as the doctor.
Allen Murnane also plays an important role, while
Mrs. Bessie Wharton is seen as Myra's mother.
