Cornell Professor Walter H. Stainton had spent more than 40 years researching the movies made here. He showed Ithaca films in the forties fifties and sixties. He wrote articles and was the walking, talking encyclopedia of Ithaca movies. After retiring he continued his research with plans to write the definitive book on moviemaking in Ithaca. He collaborated on the book idea with DeWitt Historical Society educator Gretchen Sasche during the late 1990's.
