WHARTONS TO BUILD STUDIO
New Structure is Certain, They Admit, But Say They Don’t Know When, But Plans Are Being Prepared by Driscoll Bros . Plans for an 80 x 150 foot studio building for Wharton Inc., are nearly completed in the offices of Driscoll Brothers & Co., and the erection of the structure at Renwick is a certainty, probably in the near future, according to statements made reluctantly by members of the film producing corporation. “I don’t know when we will build, but we will have to before long,” said Theodore Wharton. “We are going to have a larger studio building, that is certain, but I don’t know when it will be,” said J. Whitworth Buck, business manager of the local concern. “While the plans are being made I have not seen them and we have no contracts with anyone yet.” MEANS PURCHASE OF PROPERTY When asked regarding the presence here of the representative of a structural iron firm, Theodore Wharton said that the man represented a firm that furnished the structural iron work for many of the larger “movie” studios erected in various parts of the country within the last few years and that the man was looking for new business. The statement that a new building is certain makes it clear that Wharton Inc. will close the option they now hold on the Renwick Park property, which was leased for a term of years with the option of purchase at an agreed figure.
